Towing and Recovery Plus supplier requirements

Summary of requirements the towing and recovery plus suppliers must have for their storage yard(s) and/or building(s) prior to qualifying as an ICBC towing and recovery plus supplier.

Requirements

Towing and recovery plus suppliers must meet and maintain specific requirements to be qualified.

Note: Failure to meet all requirements may disqualify a supplier from Towing and Recovery Plus.
When the requirement is… The supplier must…
vehicle categories be capable of towing and recovering all vehicles up to and including Category II.
storage facility office area
  • have an office at the main storage facility, that is staffed during regular business hours, and
  • provide a photograph of the office to ICBC.
additional storage yard access provide customer access to their vehicle within one hour during normal business hours for any secondary storage yard(s)/building(s).
digital camera

have cameras with:

  • minimum 1.3 megapixels
  • capable of 640 x 480 resolution, and
  • have a macro option.
electronic dispatching
  • have a designated dispatch email address, or
  • dispatch fax number for receiving the External Tow Dispatch Request (WEB1075) from ICBC.
invoicing be equipped to submit all invoices electronically to ICBC.
tow vehicle list provide electronically the current licensed and registered towing vehicles to ICBC on an annual basis.
uniforms
  • have employees wear professional uniforms displaying the company name, and
  • provide a photograph of the uniform to ICBC.
Note: Uniforms to be supplied by the company.
exterior lightening
  • have their own exterior lighting which illuminates the storage yard(s) and/or building(s), and
  • provide safe passage when navigating in the storage yard(s)/building(s).
storage capacity

have the vehicle storage capacity to be four to one (4 spaces for each tow vehicle).

Note: This requirement excludes motorcycles.
