Identify customer options

Options to suggest when damage claimed as hit and run is inconsistent with an unidentified motorist collision.

Prerequisites

The estimator has determined that damage is inconsistent with an unidentified motorist collision but the customer pursues a hit and run claim.

When this applies

The claim owner has reviewed the claim and consulted with the estimator concerning the inconsistent damage and contacts the customer to provide options for handling the claim.

Procedure

  1. Contact the customer, explaining why the damage is inconsistent with hit and run damage. .
  2. Provide the customer with the claim options:
    • a single vehicle collision claim, or
    • a comprehensive cause of loss claim.
  3. Determine next step.

    Then...

    accepts that damage is inconsistent with a collision cause of loss

    process the claim as a comprehensive cause of loss.

    accepts that the damage is consistent with other collision but not a hit and run

    process the claim as a single vehicle collision claim.

    does not accept that the damage is inconsistent with a hit and run

    book an appointment with the customer and estimator to view the damage.
