Refinish times and guidelines

Definition of the Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE) refinish times.

Refinish times guidelines

MCE finish times for ICBC collision repair estimates.

Vehicle and operation applications

Refinish times are applied for each specific vehicle and operation:

If refinish time is ... Then the estimator or participant applies the ...
listed in the MCE database listed refinish times.
not listed in the MCE database ICBC refinish times as listed in each applicable subsection of Painting a vehicle not found in the Mitchell database policy.
Important: For commercial collision refinish times refer to the ICBC Heavy Equipment (Truck) Paint Chart.
Note: For information on matte or frozen finishes, refer to Application of matte paint finishes.

If the refinish process is not recognized in MCE, such as a custom refinish, then judgment time and policy limits may apply. The collision repair participant must add the REQUIRES REVIEW long expansion repair line from the ICBC My Templates in MCE. Supporting documentation from the paint manufacturer may be required to support if the manufacturer requires a new refinish process.

Note: Entering Paint Codes into MCE can help determine whether the refinish process is a two-stage or three-stage application.

Mitchell refinish calculations

The default Mitchell refinish calculations, paint/material rates, and paint/material included options must not be modified or adjusted in the Estimate Profile Calculations screen.

Estimates with modified MCE profile calculations are subject to review, correction, and the recovery of overpayments.

Estimates submitted with adjusted values may trigger the application of performance management consequences outlined in the
