Wheel alignment coverage qualification

Guidelines for wheel alignments or alignment-related items that qualify for coverage on the Estimate or Appraisal.

Coverage qualification

This shows what qualifies for coverage, and what does not:

When ... Then ...
the vehicle obviously required a wheel alignment prior to the crash.
Note: Indicator - The tire tread is worn heavily on the inside or outside of the tire.
the wheel alignment may not qualify for coverage.
Note: Authorization for the alignment would depend on the situation and the estimator’s judgment.
Note: For example, when a customer continuously rubs the wheels against the curb when parking, an alignment was likely already needed. If vehicle damage requires the replacement of the suspension and components, then it would qualify for an alignment. If the wheel was merely scuffed in the crash, then it would not qualify.
non-standard shims are required to properly align a vehicle shims and labour are paid in addition to the wheel alignment.
the vehicle requires any of the following that are not accident related
  • replacement of worn parts
  • maintenance procedures, or
  • adjustments
the repair cost for these items are the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
