Wheel alignment coverage qualification and rates
Guidelines and applicable rates for wheel alignments or alignment-related items that qualify for coverage on the Estimate or Appraisal.
Allowable circumstances
Wheel alignments are allowed only when there is
- impact, damage, or repairs to a
- wheel
- tire, or
- suspension component
- structural damage to the front or rear suspension area, or
- roll over or other claim-related incident likely affecting alignment.
Alignment type | Eligibility conditions |
---|---|
Four-wheel | Allowed on all vehicles, regardless of whether the damage has occurred to the front or rear areas Note: Both front and rear suspensions must be adjustable.
|
Two-wheel | Allowed only on vehicles with a fixed or non-adjustable rear suspension Note: Fixed systems that require repairs or repositioning work are paid as labour, not as alignment.
|
Important: Wheel alignments are not approved when previous damage or wear and tear to the area indicates that an alignment was already needed as regular maintenance prior to the claim-related damage occurring.

In some regions of British Columbia (B.C.), repair facilities providing wheel alignments may charge retail wheel alignment rates exceeding ICBC's posted rates. In these cases, ICBC may choose to review the current retail rates. If ICBC approves a different rate, it notifies the facility in writing. Repair facilities must obtain written approval from ICBC before charging a higher rate.
Note: In regions where a repair facility has retail rates at or below ICBC's posted rates, ICBC rates will apply.
