A summary of approved and monitored heavy equipment aftermarket parts.

Aftermarket parts

aftermarket structural body parts are not readily available, except for
  • add-on parts
  • chrome, and
  • stainless steel accessories.
The following are commonly available aftermarket body parts
  • boxes
  • bumpers.
  • flaps
  • lights
  • mirrors
  • racks, and
  • steps
  • trim pieces
Note: Mechanical parts are readily available and are often the more cost effective option.

Some parts may be fabricated, as opposed to replacement with original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

Example
For a Peterbilt step and battery boxes, the OEM cost is approximately three times the cost of fabrication, which averages at $750.00. Meanwhile, there is no visible difference if fabricated properly.

aftermarket bumpers are often more cost effective than OEM. It is common where it has been changed by the prior owner to a style with more lights. Usually, these have been purchased in the United States of America (USA).
Important: These need to be checked carefully as there are a few local suppliers with significant variations in cost for the same part.
