Allowance details

Refinish allowance applies for commercial and heavy equipment operations. These allowances are subject to various requirements.

The following details apply to allowance for refinish operations:

Refinish operations

  • Panel preparation on repaired or replaced parts is included in all paint times.
  • Used part clean-up allowances may be considered. If allowed, judgment time applies.

Complete refinish

For complete paint times

  • all welded, riveted, and bonded panels are included, and
  • a deduction of 0.5 applies for overlap per bolt-on component (e.g., sun visors, roof fairings, tank fairings, etc.).

Partial refinish

On partial paint operations

  • a deduction of 0.5 overlap applies on adjacent panels, and
  • no deduction applies for overlap on bolt-on components (e.g., sun visors, roof fairings, tank fairings, etc.).

Bolt-on component Inners

All bolt-on component paint times include inners.

Removal of parts for refinishing

Removal of parts for painting must be in accordance with existing industry standards.

Spot refinishing

Where spot painting is done, fair and reasonable time must be specified according to of the actual operation being performed.

Stripes and graphics

  • Stripe and graphic operations are based on judgment time.
  • If sublet, ICBC is not responsible for charges in excess of fair market retail.
