Policy on total loss settlement for government vehicles

Eligibility

This policy applies to all levels of government:

• federal (including RCMP)
• provincial (Government of BC), and
• municipal (including municipal police forces).

Policy

The actual cash value (ACV) for a government vehicle is calculated in the same way as any other vehicle. The ACV is then used as the settlement value.

Total loss claims on all government owned vehicles :

• must be settled using the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of the vehicle.
• must not be settled using depreciated asset value.

The policy applies whenever a government vehicle is a total loss.
