Removal and installation of non-reusable scripts
Guidelines for removal and installation of non-reusable scripts.
Examples
Some scripts must be removed to complete a refinishing job. When stuck-on scripts are peeled off the vehicle, they usually cannot be reused.
Non-reusable scripts include but may not be limited to:
- flexible letters with a chrome-like or coloured backing, or
- complex or ornate letters or scripts that are extremely difficult to re-tape.
Allowances
When a non-reusable glued or taped-on script must be removed to facilitate painting
- the part is paid at the competitive retail price, and
- the appropriate remove and replace labour rate applies, as listed in the Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE).
A reasonable judgment time/allowance applies for re-taping
- stick-on mouldings
- nameplates, and
- scripts.
Note: It may be more cost effective to replace the part than to remove and install and re-tape it.
