Arrange out of province vehicle repairs

Help a customer arrange out of province vehicle repairs, including glass, for damage caused by a crash that occurred in B.C.

When this applies

The claim is not assigned to CC01 - OOP Claims.

Some examples of when this applies is when the customer:

  • moved outside of B.C.
  • does not plan to return to the province
  • is working outside of B.C., and /or
  • is vacationing outside of B.C., and cannot wait to return before having the repairs completed.

Procedure

  1. Ensure the customer's daytime phone number is up to date in their contact information in the claim.
  2. Ask the customer to choose a repair facility who can provide an estimate and photos to ICBC through email. Multiple estimates may be required for comparison purposes.
Important: Even if the customer has an ICBC Estimate or Appraisal the out of province (OOP) repair facility must obtain authorization to repair the vehicle from an ICBC estimator.
  3. Give the [email protected] email address to the customer to give to the OOP repair facility.
Note: This email address can be used by any claims department and is how the OOP repair facility submits their estimate and photos.
  4. Add the OOP repair facility details, if known, to parties involved in the claim.
Tip: Fix Auto or ProColor in Canada may be recommended to the customer.

Results

The OOP repair facility contacts ICBC via email and an ICBC estimator responds in 2-3 business days to discuss the estimate and authorization to repair the vehicle.
