Manage an unsafe vehicle driven to collision repair program facility

Collision repair participants must follow protocol when managing an unsafe vehicle driven to a collision repair program facility.

When this applies

Sometimes a vehicle is driven into an collision repair program facility, and later designated non-driveable. When possible, simple repairs should be done to make the vehicle safe to drive. Otherwise, the Alternative Transportation Service (ATS) grace days may apply.

Example: A customer with a valid ICBC Collision Repair claim number has driven their vehicle to the facility. The claim-related damage renders the vehicle unsafe.

Procedure

  1. Participant
    1. Contacts ICBC to discuss the situation.
  2. ICBC representative
    1. Approves necessary changes to the estimate.
  3. Participant
    1. Continues based on the state of the vehicle.
When the vehicle ... and the participant... then ATS grace days ...

can be made safely driveable with simple repairs completes those repairs do not apply.
