Parts selection and pricing policy

Part selection and documentation to support part decisions when the most cost effective pre-priced part or Car-Part.com inventoried part is not selected.

Support for parts decisions

Repair participants must use the most cost-effective parts with consideration for net claim cost, including but not limited to, delivery delays and any impact to Loss of Use (LOU).

Unsupported part decisions may affect the amount ICBC pays when the Estimate or Appraisal is submitted for payment or approval. These decisions are also factored into quality assurance (QA) assessments, audits, and performance reviews.

Participants must attempt to use parts listed in the Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE) system. In situations where a listed part's quality or fit issue cannot be resolved, the participant must document their attempts at resolving the issue.
Note: For more information, refer to the topic, Standards of performance for repair facilities on all parts
.
Participants should select the appropriate estimate entry inMCE My Templates/01 STANDARD and include relevant supplier details
  • PRE-PRICED PARTS NOT USED - NO STOCK
  • PRE-PRICED PARTS NOT USED - QUALITY CONCERN
  • PRE-PRICED PARTS NOT USED - OTHER
Important: The NO STOCK entry is only accepted when the participant contacts the supplier listed through Mitchell Alternative Parts Profile (MAPP). A refusal number alone is not accepted as sufficient documentation.

ICBC reviews reporting that identifies specific alternative successful part usage across all paid estimates with consideration for volumes. ICBC also reviews information based on listed Mitchell template entries to identify potential part issues, and engages aftermarket suppliers as necessary to resolve or de-list problematic parts.

Note: If the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supplier matches any pre-priced or recycled part prices, then the part on the estimate should remain as recycled or pre-priced with a line remark stating "OEM price match". Parts price matching requires consideration for net claim cost including but is not limited to, additional costs related to acquiring or use of the OEM parts that would not apply to a recycled or pre-priced part.
