Standards of performance

The provincial government passed regulations governing the weld repair of aluminum alloy wheels.

Each repair facility must comply with

  • the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations and
  • these procedures.

Required identification

  • Each repair must bear the appropriate identification as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations.
  • The repairer must ensure this identification is legible.

Repair vs replace decision

The decision on repair vs. replace rests with the repair facility. The repairer or contractor must notify ICBC if the wheel is not repairable.

Recycled/Repaired wheel price list

Approved repairers must supply claims offices with a price list of available, in-stock recycled or repaired wheels.

Response time

Repairers must make every effort to reduce delivery time in an emergency situation.

Repair rates

Repairers’ charges to ICBC for alloy wheel repairs must be based on the rates set by ICBC.
