U-bilt vehicle total loss settlement overview
The total loss settlement on a u-blt vehicle, also known as a home made vehicle, is based on its actual cash value (ACV).
Determine ACV
A u-bilt vehicle is often customized and unique in nature. This presents a significant challenge in developing an accurate ACV.
The ACV can be determined using
- Vehicle Valuation report Specialty Services department
- internet websites, or
- independent appraiser with manager approval.
Important: Review the Actual cash value policy.
Declared value
For a vehicle with a declared value, it must be determine if co-insurance will apply.
Lien search
A lien search requires a vehicle to have a vehicle identification number (VIN); therefore, a lien search is
- required when the u-bilt weighs 1,401 kilograms (kg) or greater, as they are required to obtain a VIN, and
- not required, when the vehicle weighs 1,400 kg or less, as it does not have a VIN.
