Vehicle damage severity codes
Definition of vehicle damage severity codes.
Code definitions
All vehicles declared a total loss are assigned a vehicle damage severity code on the total loss worksheet. When inspecting the vehicle the estimator marks the severity on each damaged area of the vehicle, matching the code to the definition.
The Salvage Value Inquiry system uses vehicle damage severity codes as part of its search criteria, and will continue to be used until more data is available in the new salvage system VISion.
