Guidelines for suppliers and ICBC on alloy wheel repairs.
Standards of performance
ICBC and its suppliers must meet all standards of performance, especially those relating to estimating alloy wheel repairs and refinishing.

Facility qualification | All alloy wheel repair and refinish allowances specified on the Repair Estimate (CL14) as a sublet, must only be performed by approved facilities that meet all requirements in the Weld Repair of Aluminium Alloy Wheels Regulation (Motor Vehicle Act). Note: Minor cosmetic polishing and/or refinishing (i.e. rubber tire debris transfer) put on the CL14 as judgement time, and not as a sublet alloy wheel repair and refinish allowance, may be performed by other qualified suppliers.

Appropriate repair determination | The estimator must determine whether a repair is appropriate on the claim, however the final decision on repair versus replace rests with the approved alloy wheel repair and refinish facility. |

Approved facility listing | ICBC’s material damage staff maintain a current listing of approved alloy wheel repair and refinish facilities. |
Applicable legislation
The provincial government passed regulations governing the weld repair of aluminium alloy wheels. Refer to the Motor Vehicle Act Regulation, Division 7, Section 7.09, item 20 of the Schedule (Standards for the Approval of a Motor Vehicle) with reference to the Weld Repair of Aluminium Alloy Wheels Regulation.
Note: The approved alloy wheel repair and refinish facility has the discretion to refuse to mount a tire that has unrelated damage and has been deemed unsafe.
