Alloy wheel damage severity codes

List of alloy wheel damage severity codes

Severity Codes

All sublet alloy wheel repair and refinish allowances under severity codes 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 must be completed at an approved alloy wheel repair facility.

Minor cosmetic polishing and/or refinishing put on the Repair Estimate (CL14) as judgement time, but not as a sublet alloy wheel repair and refinish allowance, may be performed by an alternative qualified supplier.

Alloy wheel damage is coded according to the severity of the damage.

Severity code Definition
1 Refinish or partial refinish.
3 Cosmetic weld repairs to nicks and gouges including minor straightening and re-machining of surface.
5 Bends, multiple bends, welds to extensive gouges and build-up of outer flanges and edges.
7 Section broken out of outer rim flanges and cracked flanges. Severe ends and extensive welding.
9

Bends, weld repairs or damage that is closely approaching the not repairable state.

Note: A wheel that has previously had a severity code 9 repair will not be repaired a second time for another severity code 9 damage.
