Apply de-nib and finesse to an estimate

Steps to document and apply de-nib and finesse during a collision repair.

Prerequisites

An exterior panel has been refinished due to claim related damage.

When this applies

The repair facility completed the refinishing of an outer panel and identified that there is one or more nibs that requires correction.

Procedure

  1. Inspect the condition of the finish, determining if the panel warrants a de-nib and finesse once the outer panels have been refinished.
  2. Upload a photo for each panel documenting the correction sanding.
  3. Navigate to the repair estimate in MITCHELL CLOUD ESTIMATING.
    1. Click the Parts icon.
    2. Select the ICBC My Templates group then 01 STANDARD.
    3. Select DE-NIB & FINESSE.
    4. Add a line to the repair estimate.
    5. Enter 0.2 per exterior refinish hour applies on exterior panels that requires de-nib and finesse.
Note: The calculation to determine this is
total applicable panel refinish time x (0.2) = total de-nib and finesse time to enter on repair estimate
    6. Attach an explanation line note to the template line, outlining which panels qualify for de-nib and finesse.
Important: De-nib and finesse must only be applied to panels requiring the operation.
      Note example
      Left front door 2.5, left rear door 2.0 x 0.2 = 0.9
