A collision repair program participant must document and submit a four-stage refinish for approval when applicable.
Prerequisites
Two-stage must be selected as the default paint operation within Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE) and paint manufacturer guidelines must confirm that a four-stage refinish is required.
When this applies
When a four-stage refinish is required on a vehicle, the refinish allowance is calculated by combining the total refinish times for all exterior refinish panels listed on the estimate.
Procedure
-
Navigate to the estimate and click the Parts icon in the side bar.
-
Select: My Templates ICBC
-
Navigate to Part description screen.
-
Select: 04 PAINT OPERATIONS.
-
Click: FOUR STAGE REFINISH.
-
Calculate allowance, adding it to the Templates line entry under the Labour unit column.
-
Enter the labour time as refinish labour time.
-
Attach an explanation line to the Templates line, outlining which panels qualify for the four stage refinish, including the allowance calculation.
Example:
Lt Frt Door 2.5, Lt Rr Door 2.0, Lt ¼ 3.0 = 7.5
-
Add the *REQUIRES REVIEW* long expansion repair line from the ICBC My Templates group and proceed with repairs.
-
Upload supporting documentation to support the paint procedure requiring four-stage refinish, such as paint manufacturer technical data sheets identifying the procedures and stages required.
Important: Requests for four-stage refinishing that are not supported by appropriate documentation may be subject to a performance management review, in accordance with the terms outlined in the Collision Repair Agreement.
