Apply the exotic and classic vehicle repair rate to an estimate

The collision repair program participant applies the exotic and classic vehicle repair rate to the repair estimate in Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE).

Prerequisites

An exotic or classic vehicle has been damaged and brought into a Collision Repair Program participant for repairs.

When this applies

The Collision Repair Program participant determines that a vehicle meets the applicable exotic or classic and vintage vehicle criteria as per the Exotic and classic vehicle repair rate policy.
Important: If a participant identifies a vehicle that they believe qualifies for the exotic and classic rate but is not in the eligible exotic or classic vehicle list, or does not meet the automatic eligibility requirements for exotic and classic repair rate, they must flag the estimate as Requires Review, with an estimate remark to "Review for exotic/classic rate exception". For additional information, refer to Exotic Vehicle Repair Rate - Included Vehicle List.

Procedure

  1. Enter all applicable operations on the repair estimate using default MCE labour times and Collision Repair Program rates.
  2. Review the estimate totals for each labour type and calculate the difference in rate for each.
Important: The rate differential for each labour type can be viewed in Collision Repair Facility Labour Rates, Material Allowances & Estimating Fees.

    2. Select My Templates.
    3. Select: ICBC in the drop-down.
    4. Select: 12 EXOTIC / CLASSIC.
    5. Select any applicable templates and add them to the estimate:

      • EXOTIC / CLASSIC VEHICLE FEATHER PRIME & BLOCK
      • EXOTIC / CLASSIC VEHICLE STRUCTURAL ALUMINUM
      • EXOTIC / CLASSIC VEHICLE FRAME, or
      • EXOTIC / CLASSIC VEHICLE MECHANICAL.
  4. Enter the rate difference dollar amount for each applicable operation, using the calculation:

Total applicable labour time X Applicable rate difference in dollars, excluding tax = Total exotic/classic repair rate per labour type

  5. Attach an Explanation line note to the template line, showing the calculation for each labour category that is eligible for the exotic and classic repair rate.
