Apply sublet costs to an estimate when labour time for a sublet operation is not available

Collision repair program participants can apply the total cost of an eligible sublet to an associated operation on the Mitchell estimate.

When this applies

A participant has sublet a portion of the repair to a third party, who has billed a higher labor rate than the ICBC prevailing rate for the operation, and the sublet is considered eligible by ICBC as outlined in the topic, Collision repair program sublet repairs policy.

Certain mechanical part labour times such as exhaust, wiring and engine components are not always available in Mitchell, therefore the participant may need to rely on other sources for times such as Alldata, Mitchell Tech Advisor or the manufacturer.

Note: Participants choosing a sublet repair facility must consider businesses that provide competitive pricing in their market area. Excessive sublet costs may be denied or reversed when reasonable alternatives are available.

Procedure

  1. Remove any overlaps performed by the collision repair program participant by deducting from the sublet total.
  2. Select the correct template.
    1. Click the Parts icon in the side bar.
    2. Select: My Templates.
    3. Select: ICBC from the  drop down list.
    4. Select: SUBLET RATE DIFFERENCE template line
    5. Enter the pre-tax sublet labour invoice total including an estimate remark with the total hours multiplied by the sublet facility rate equaling the total.

      Example:16 (hours) x $149 (per hour) = $2,384.00.

Important: All parts on the sublet invoice should be entered individually on the Mitchell estimate. Any applicable materials listed on the sublet invoice may be included, as labour hours are not entered on the estimate for this operation. The sublet rate used in the calculation cannot exceed prevailing retail pricing.
