Freight allowances for northern British Columbia (B.C.) policy

ICBC pays specific freight allowances for shipments north of Prince George. Freight to all other areas of the province; including, Prince George, is considered included in the pre-priced part listings in Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE).

The following are the freight allowances depending on the part.

Part Freight allowance
  • Lights
  • Mirrors
$5.00
  • Condensers
  • Fenders
  • Grills
  • Radiators
$10.00
  • Bumper covers
  • Bumper face bars
  • Doors
  • Hoods
  • Step bumpers
$20.00
Important: Collision repair program participants should make their best effort to consolidate additional smaller or auxiliary parts within the allowances noted. The repair facility can add all parts that apply; however, multiple parts orders should be consolidated with participants working with the supplier to ensure parts remain cost effective. For example, a shipment containing a bumper cover, absorber, and re-bar could be a single $20 freight charge.
Participants must
  • consider the net landed cost of a replacement part inclusive of any freight charges to ensure the appropriate cost-effective option is chosen, and
  • select the appropriate repair estimate entry, My Templates/01 STANDARD/FREIGHT, from My Templates list in MCE when adding freight to the repair estimate.

Air freight

Air freight or special delivery charges are considered when the net part pricing and claim factors make it a cost-effective claim choice.

These factors include
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) back-order parts delays, or
  • Loss of Use (LOU) exposure.
Important: Repair facilities must document that they are using the most cost-effective parts by adding an explanation line in MCE describing the rationale.
