Parts with a visible manufacturer’s logo replacement policy

ICBC is responsible for covering the cost of repairing or replacing the vehicle, and its equipment or any part of it, with material of a similar kind or quality. When determining if an aftermarket part is an appropriate replacement for parts that have a visible Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) logo, the overall aesthetic appearance of the part must be considered.

Applicability

The decision on the type of part to use, OEM versus aftermarket, is based on the impact that the logo has to the overall aesthetic of the vehicle.

Logo does not improve overall aesthetic of vehicle and is not visible unless viewing up close Aftermarket part, when available

Exceptions

OEM parts must be utilized if the vehicle has one of the following special endorsement coverages in place:
  • Replacement Cost Endorsement (APV286A), or
  • New Vehicle Replacement Plus (NVR+).
