Collision repair facility equipment and training requirements

The minimum requirements for a collision repair facility to participate in the Collision Repair Program.

Note: Some requirements will be established at a later date as outlined in each table.

Table 8. Training requirements
Technical training
Participant maintains one of the following certifications I-CAR Gold class, or Certified Collision Care (CCC). OEM Certifications may be considered for specialized repair facilities, on an exception basis.
Technicians performing technical repairs hold relevant British Columbia trade qualifications or in an apprenticeship agreement
Proof of technical training for facility measuring equipment
Proof of product training for Participant's current refinishing system

Table 9. Aluminum repair equipment (not mandatory)
Equipment type Note: The following requirements are not mandatory to be a participant in ICBC's Collision Repair Program. In order to be listed as a collision repair facility that is capable of aluminum repairs the participant must meet all of the requirements below.
Work separation system that isolates aluminum vehicles from vehicles undergoing steel repairs (Separation can be a separate room or curtain system)
Designated set of hand/special tools specially for aluminum vehicles to prevent from cross contamination with steel body vehicles
220V Pulse MIG welder used specifically for aluminum vehicles
Dent extraction system specifically designed for aluminum that contains an aluminum stud welder, heat gun, pyrometer, aluminum hammers, glue pulling system and dent extraction system
Specialized aluminum SPR (Self Piercing Rivet) gun that meets or exceeds manufacturer specifications
Immersion-Type, Wet Mix dust extraction system or a pneumatic dry vacuum extraction system dedicated to aluminum dust (The system can be either portable or a centrally installed)
I-CAR WCA05 Aluminum GMA (MIG) Welding Certification or functional equivalent
