Specialty Vehicle Appraisal unit assignment policy
Policy on when a total loss must be assigned to the Specialty Vehicle Appraisal (SVA) unit.
Policy
Estimators must assign the estimating activity to the specialty vehicle appraisal (SVA) unit when
- handling a claim on a vehicle with a Special Risk Own Damage Policy (APV274)
- handling a claim on a vehicle with a model year of 1973 or older where coverage is provided under ICBC's
- Collector Motor Vehicle Agreed Value Policy (APV348) - Actual Cash Value
- Modified Collector Vehicle Policy (MV1437) - Declared Value, or
- Vintage Motor Vehicle Certificate (APV44) - Stated Value, and
-
the vehicle
- meets specialty vehicle criteria as provided in Vehicle list for the specialty vehicle appraisal (SVA) unit, and
- is potentially a total loss.
Note: To warrant assignment to the SVA unit, the vehicle must meet SVA vehicle criteria or have one of the aforementioned policies. For example, a Tesla is on the SVA criteria list, but would not have one of the listed policies. Refer to Additional Coverages for information on collector or vintage vehicle policies.
