Collision repair requirements

Some requirements that must be met for a vehicle to automatically qualify for the collision repair program.

Claim requirements

In order to qualify for collision repair, refer to the claim requirements and applicable circumstance.

Requirement Circumstance
ICBC coverage The customer must have purchased Collision or Comprehensive coverage from ICBC.
Rate class The vehicle must be insured in one of the following rate classes:
  • 001
  • 002
  • 003
  • 004
  • 007
  • 011
  • 012
  • 014
  • 015
Type of claim The loss must be a:
  • Collision claim, or
  • Comprehensive claim with body or paint damage or both due to:
    • animal impact
    • vandalism
    • theft from auto, only if the items stolen are not insured by ICBC
    • other comprehensive claims, including but not limited to lightning, hail, flying rocks, or
    • unidentified (hit-and-run).
Vehicle condition The vehicle must be driveable.
Suspicion The claim must not be suspicious.

Exception

When the first party has no ICBC Collision coverage, the customer may take their vehicle to a collision repair facility only if the

  • customer has chosen an collision repair facility, and
  • Third party has reported, has ICBC insurance and accepts the responsibility.
