When an estimator confirms damage is inconsistent with a hit and run, the handling claims representative reviews the estimate with the estimator, questions the customer and determines applicable coverage.
Prerequisites
- The estimator determines the damages are consistent with a cause of loss other than a hit and run, and
- The customer has available coverage but not under hit and run.
When this applies
The customer meets with an estimator to review damage that is inconsistent with a hit and run.
Procedure

Review the estimate and images with the estimator.

Contact the customer.

Explain why the damage is not consistent with a vehicle-to-vehicle collision.

Ask the customer if
- anybody else has access to the vehicle, and
- they had been operating the vehicle when the damage occurred.
