Finish sand and buff guidelines

Guidelines for the application of finish sand and buff.

Guidelines

Finish sand and buff applications require that

  • the pre-existing clear coat condition cannot be replicated in the paint booth during clear coat application
  • vehicle pre-accident paint condition should support the finish, and
  • no previous paint flaws, such as nibs and runs, are evident.
    Note: Many vehicles are delivered with evident peel in the paint and do not qualify for the finish sand and buff process.

Finish sand and buff applications are reserved for replicating paint finishes with clear coat surface texture level that cannot be duplicated during the refinish process in the paint booth.
