Battery disconnection policy
Any damaged vehicle that poses a fire or explosion risk must have the battery cables disconnected at the source, when the vehicle is stored inside a claims servicing office outside of normal operating hours, or being dispatched to an ICBC salvage facility.
Applicability
This applies to all vehicle; including, electric hybrid vehicles.
Note: The Estimating Service Manager is responsible to ensure compliance with this policy.
Exceptions
The battery does not need to be disconnected when the severity of the damage
- prevents access to the battery, or
- results in safety concerns.
