Out of province emergency support

How to support an out of province customer, when our out-of-province (OOP) department is not available.

When to help

The customer service adjuster assists an OOP department customer, when the customer:

  • has called before/after the OOP department’s regular hours
  • is located out of province, and
  • requires emergency assistance.

How to help

The adjuster needs to involve their supervisor/manager, so they can:

  • confirm the customer’s:
    • coverage, and
    • immediate needs (e.g., medical issues, or travel arrangements), and
  • authorize or not authorize the contacting of Mega Assistance Services.

ICBC uses Mega Assistance Services to assist out of province customers who need emergency support; however, there is a significant fee to use their services.

Important: An adjuster must have the authorization of their supervisor/manager to contact Mega Assistance Service.
