Policy on full/partial vehicle decals, panel decals, and vehicle wraps under Own Damage Coverage.
Policy
Full/partial vehicle decals, panel decals and vehicle wraps are recognized to be vehicle equipment.
ICBC provides Own Damage Coverage on full/partial vehicle decals, panel decals and vehicle wraps when they meet:
- specific conditions, and
- the definition of permanently attached equipment.
Note: The ICBC Own Damage Coverage includes indemnity on a Replacement Cost, New Vehicle Replacement Plus, or Limited Depreciation basis when the coverage has been purchased for the vehicle.
Specific conditions
The conditions that must be met are
- vehicle owner or lessee must have an insurable interest in the vehicle wrap/decal
- depreciation may apply on replacement decals when the vehicle is repairable, and
- consequential damage to the surface of the vehicle must be excluded when it is caused from removal of a wrap by the use of:
- any tool(s), and
- application of chemical solvent, or heat.
Permanently attached equipment
Refer to the definition of permanently attached equipment in the ICBC Autoplan Optional Policy – Division 5, Section 5.11, Coverage For Equipment.
Note: Wraps or coverings of a temporary nature that do not require a tool for removal are not covered as permanently attached equipment of a vehicle.
