Requirements to qualify suppliers’ storage yards and buildings
Summary of requirements suppliers must have for their storage yards and buildings prior to qualifying as an ICBC towing supplier.
The suppliers’ storage yard(s) and building(s) must:
- be safe, separate, enclosed and secured
- restrict entry of unauthorized personnel to the storage building(s)
- display permanent signage with the towing supplier’s operating name, and their customer service telephone number:
- the telephone number must be the correct number in which the customer may gain access to their vehicle within one hour during normal business hours
- have the capacity to safely store the customer vehicle(s) for at least two to one spaces for each towing vehicle registered with ICBC (excluding motorcycles), and
- all vehicles must be parked to allow individuals to move safely between the vehicles.Note: Suppliers may share the same storage yard(s) and building(s) as long as they are separate, and have secured access. The signage must clearly indicate each company’s name and customer service telephone number.
Storage fencing requirements
The storage yard(s) must be secure with permanent and structurally sound continuous fencing with a
- minimum six foot height including an additional twelve inch barbed/razor wire atop and/or actively monitored alarmed security system, and
- locked gate restricting entry of unauthorized personnel, subject to city district and municipal bylaws.
