Structural aluminum repair rate guidelines

Guidelines for when the structural aluminum repair rate is to be applied to the Estimate or Appraisal.

Rate guidelines

The situations for when the structural aluminum repair rate is applicable.

Situation Requirements
When the Estimate or Appraisal includes
  • repair or replacement of welded on, or
  • rivet bonded aluminum structural components that requires the use of
    • aluminum specific equipment, and/or
    • tools to install.
Note: The replacement of a welded on or rivet bonded aluminum quarter panels or bedside panels would qualify for the ICBC aluminum rate.
The Aluminum Repair rate is
  • paid, and
  • selected in the labour type drop down menu within Mitchell Cloud Estimating when adding the applicable estimate line per:
    • structural aluminum part repair, or
    • replacement operation.
When the Estimate or Appraisal includes
  • repair or replacement of bolt on structural aluminum components
  • non-structural repairs to any outer sheet aluminum panels, and/or
  • PULL AND ALIGN UNIBODY pre-store line remark
The Aluminum Repair rate is
  • not paid, and
  • the applicable rate for the specific labour type applies to the Estimate or Appraisal.
Note: Examples are hoods, fenders, doors, and repairs to quarter panels and bedside panels, etc. The PULL AND ALIGN UNIBODY pre-store remark is defaulted to ICBC frame rates.
Important: Collision repair program participants must not change labour or rate codes associated with any labour operations in Mitchell Cloud Estimating other than qualifying aluminum structural repair and replacements. Refer to, Incorrect and manual labour codes in estimating system policy.
