Commercial mechanical rates

Guidelines for commercial mechanical rates to be applied to the Estimate or Appraisal.

Rates

ICBC and Progressive Heavy Collision Association have agreed on a separate commercial mechanical rate per hour (includes materials) to be applied to the Estimate or Appraisal.

The mechanical rates apply when repairing the:

  • engine
  • transmission
  • clutch
  • flywheel, and
  • differential (gear work) of commercial vehicles.
Note: The excluded items listed above are paid by following the body labour and material rates.

Parts

Appraisers indicate in the repair estimate which part applies to the mechanical rate by:

  • completing a separate suffix Estimate or Appraisal that describes the part covered by the mechanical rate, or
  • circling the flat rate labour entry for the operation on the original Estimate or Appraisal.
Note: The mechanical repair times used on the repair estimate are in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranty flat rate manual.
