Handle a stereo claim

How to handle a stolen stereo claim and request an estimator review.

When this applies

A customer has reported their stereo stolen, their vehicle is driveable, and the claim is retained at the Claims Contact Centre (CCC).

Procedure

  1. Determine if the customer has reported to the police.
    If the customer ... Then ...
    has a police file number record the police file number on the Loss Details screen..
    does not have a police file number
    • advise the customer to report to the police in their area, and
    • the estimate will not be released until they provide a police file number to ICBC.
  2. Request the customer upload to the Customer Portal
    • proof of purchase, or
    • receipts that substantiate the age, make and model of the equipment stolen from the vehicle.
      Important: If a customer cannot upload documents to the Customer Portal, they may email [email protected]..
      Note: Without any proof of purchase, ICBC gives an allowance to the customer for the replacement of the stereo equipment.
  3. Advise an estimator will contact with the repair process within five business days.
  4. Schedule an EST - Estimate Vehicle - Driveable activity.
    • Subject: Add "Stereo Claim" and the city of the vehicle location
    • Assign To: Estimating Assignment queue
    • Assignment Location: claim centre nearest the location of the vehicle

Post requisite

If the customer contacts ICBC because the stolen equipment is recovered, ICBC arranges for the customer to return the equipment and sends the equipment to salvage as the equipment is now ICBC’s property.
