Responding to requests for sale of salvage to qualified organizations
Some salvage vehicles are sold or loaned to various qualified organizations.
ICBC receives requests from various groups for the donation of salvage vehicles.
Salvage vehicles are not donated, but they can be sold or loaned to qualified organizations. The manager of salvage services in each area is responsible for all loans and sales.
Trade schools, colleges and educational organizations
Vehicles are sold to schools and other educational organizations for educational purposes only. Vehicles cannot be loaned.
The school must be qualified to purchase specific vehicles from Salvage Operations. All sales will be by normal bid auction.
Fire, police and emergency Services
Vehicles with little or no salvage value may be loaned to these organizations under the external loan agreement. Each organization will be responsible for towing charges and returning the vehicle to salvage.
Research organizations
Organizations such as UBC, Pacific Traffic Educator Centre (PTEC) and so on, may require vehicles for research projects. They may be loaned or sold to these organizations.
