Claim required tows and storage payment policy

ICBC pays the claim required tows, additional services charged, and vehicle storage days for the dispatched vehicle.

Applicability

This applies to certain situations, such as where an ICBC representative attends the tow yard, or when the tow supplier receives

a photo or invoice request for a vehicle in their storage facility, such as a yard or building, or
an ICBC external tow dispatch.

Note: ICBC does not pay for tow or storage related to police-directed holds or impounds.

Tow suppliers, upon receiving the request, must

allow access to the vehicle
release the vehicle, if it requires a tow
send the photos or invoice requested, and
invoice ICBC for all vehicle claim required
- tows and distance charges
- additional service charges, and
- vehicle claim required and/or applicable salvage required storage days.

ICBC pays tow suppliers for costs associated with the dispatch of, or invoices or photos requested for, vehicles in accordance to the Towing, Storage Rate Payment Schedule and Towing Distance Guides, and information within the Claims Procedures manual.

Note: ICBC does not consider the payment of an invoice for a vehicle tow between storage facilities and/or buildings that are owned, leased or shared, not dispatched by ICBC.
