Standards of performance on aftermarket parts

Repair facilities must meet all the standards of performance when dealing with aftermarket parts.

aftermarket parts, including
  • plastic bumper fascia
  • valances
  • air dams
  • mechanical parts, used on ICBC claims, and
  • other plastic components.
 Similar kind and quality to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
aftermarket bumper systems and structural parts Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) certified or National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certified
Sheet metal aftermarket parts
aftermarket lights Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) approved
aftermarket Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) components; including, but not limited to
  • bumper proximity sensors
  • vision cameras with extended capability
  • Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR)
  • radar units, and
  • ultrasonic components.
 CAPA certified or CAPA Verification for Tier 1 manufacturer certified
Note: The repair facility must leave any part certification, such as CAPA and NSF stickers intact, if applicable.

Standards are not met

If a repair facility chooses to use a supplier or an aftermarket part that does not meet these standards of performance, the repair facility and the parts supplier assume all responsibility for the quality of the part and workmanship.
