Complete a taxi estimate

Steps to complete a taxi repair estimate.

When this applies

When performing an repair estimate on a taxi.

Procedure

  1. Open the Estimate or Appraisal in Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE).

    Note in MCE that

    • the vehicle is a taxi, and
    • GST is payable by the owner.
  2. Review the taxi history, if applicable, in ClaimCenter.

If there is no history file or the company has put a new vehicle on the road, then note in the estimator remarks section of MCE new in service.

  3. Check the damage being reported.

Compare the loss details in ClaimCenter with the actual physical damage.

  4. Check for overlaps between any old damage or prior claims and the new damage.

If there are any overlaps, then:

    • adjust the Estimate or Appraisal accordingly, and
    • make notes on the Estimate or Appraisal about allowances, old damage and previous unrepaired damages, including claim numbers wherever possible.
  5. Check ClaimCenter for payments, if there is a problem determining whether a previous claim has been repaired.
  6. Inform the vehicle damageexposure owner immediately, if the taxi is a total loss.

Results

The vehicle damageexposure owner:
  • informs the owner, and
  • arranges the appropriate tow.
