Taxi special equipment

Requirements that apply to Special equipment that is permanently attached to a taxi.

Equipment considerations

Special equipment that is permanently attached to a taxi is subject to specific considerations.

The following describes the considerations that apply to various types of taxi equipment:

Equipment

Considerations

Airport Taxi Transponders

Taxis qualified to access the airport taxi queues are equipped with a dedicated transponder mounted on the inside of the windshield.

Transponders cannot be removed and replaced. When an airport taxi requires windshield replacement, the existing transponder must be replaced.

Note: The cost to replace the transponder is $100.00 (no taxes), and the payment for the transponder is on a reimbursement basis only.

Computers

Computers installed in taxis are considered sound and communications equipment. They are subject to the $1,000 policy limit unless an APV300 endorsement has been purchased. The use of the computer has no bearing on its coverage.

Decals

All taxi decals (except tape pinstripes) are paid on reimbursement basis only. The cost of the decals should have been predetermined and agreed to by each taxi company. Charges for decals should not appear on the Repair Estimate (CL14).

Interior Security Camera

Cameras installed in taxis are considered sound and communications equipment. They are subject to the $1,000 policy limit unless Extra Equipment coverage has been purchased.
