Apply Alternative Transportation Service compensation

A collision repair program participant has indicated the Alternative Transportation Service (ATS) compensation applies to a claim.

When this applies

The collision repair program participant satisfies the customer's transportation needs during the repairs as outlined in the ATS sections of the Collision Repair Program Guide.

Note: The ATS allowance only applies to one suffix per claim, if applicable.

Procedure

  1. Determine the customer's transportation needs.
    1. Add ATS to the repair estimate payment if the collision repair program participant is managing the customer's transportation needs.
If the customer ... Then ...
is provided with a replacement vehicle by the collision repair program participant select the Apply ATS check box on the claim's Insurance Card in the Additional Costs section.
Note: Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE) calculates the ATS hourly compensation and the applicable amount including taxes on the repair estimate.
does not require a replacement vehicle, or is satisfied by any other form of alternate transportation provided by the collision repair program participant (other than a replacement vehicle)
      • do not apply ATS on the repair estimate, and
      • select the ATS Allowance - No Replacement Vehicle checkbox in ARIES Payment Request (APR).
Note: APR carries over the tax information and adds the allowance and applicable taxes to the repair estimate payment.
Note: When the ATS vehicle reimbursement is applicable (as per Alternative Transportation Service compensation), the participant must submit a Repair Facility Support Request form by selecting ATS Vehicle Reimbursement as the type of support request, selecting the applicable reason from the  drop down and completing all required fields. The ATS Vehicle Reimbursement is paid to the participant separate from the repair estimate payment.
Important: ATS is not billed if ICBC is paying for any Loss of Use (LOU) during the repair period, including reimbursing the customer for taxi, Uber/Lyft, or other modes of transportation. If it is identified that the customer utilizes their LOU during the repairs, ATS compensation will be removed from the repair estimate.
  2. Determine if the customer is PST exempt or is a GST registrant.
Note: Taxes are automatically applied if the ATS hourly rate is added on the MCErepair estimate or if the ATS Allowance is selected in APR.
If the ... Then the collision repair program participant ...
ATS hourly rate applies collects the applicable customer's portion of taxes as outlined on the repair estimate.
Note: The applicable taxes are automatically calculated on the repair estimate based on the customer's tax status entered by the participant.
ATS Allowance applies if the customer is a GST registrant
    • must use the Amount Prepaid by Insurance field in the MCE Insurance Card to add the calculated ATS allowance GST amount to the customer's responsibility portion on the repair estimate, and
    • collects the applicable customer's portion of taxes as outlined on the repair estimate.
Note: APR automatically carries over tax information from the repair estimate.
Example: If the customer is PST exempt and 100% GST, the allowance will not include taxes.
ATS Vehicle Reimbursement enters applicable taxes in the Repair Facility Support Request form based on the customer's tax status as outlined on the repair estimate.
Note: ensures all applicable taxes will be included in the payment.
