Standards of performance for repair facilities on all parts

Guidelines for standards of performance on all parts for repair facilities.

Standards of performance

All repair facilities must meet all these standards of performance, regardless of the work being performed:

Requirement

Standard of performance

Parts identification

All parts requests must be properly identified by

  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
  • year
  • make
  • model
  • body style, and/or
  • physical description.

Note: The parts suppliers may also require the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part number at the time of the initial order.

Parts check

The repair facility must visually inspect all parts before work begins to ensure they are acceptable.

Note: If a problem exists, the repair facility must phone the supplier directly.

Attempt to use parts

The repair facility must make a reasonable attempt to use each part before phoning the supplier with a quality or fit issue.

Administration and ordering

Repair facilities must

  • order all parts by ICBC claim number, and
  • attach a copy of the original invoice, showing the ICBC claim number, to every repair account submitted for payment.

Standards are not met

If a repair facility chooses to use a supplier or a part that does not meet the standards of performance, the repair facility and the parts supplier assume all responsibility for the quality of the part and workmanship.
