Standards of performance on vehicle parts

Collision repair program repair facilities and ICBC must follow the guidelines for standards of performance on vehicle parts.

Standards of performance

ICBC and the repair facility must meet all the specific standards of performance regarding vehicle parts. These standards ensure fair and rapid handling of all claims and for all parties.

Requirement Standard of performance
Confirm endorsements
ICBC or the repair facility must confirm if one of the following endorsements are in effect:
  • Replacement Cost Endorsement (APV286A), or
  • New Vehicle Replacement Plus (NVR+).
Expectations and entitlements ICBC or the repair facility must determine the customer’s expectations and policy entitlements prior to completing the estimate.
Parts availability

ICBC or the repair facility must search for the availability of cost effective recycled parts by using the iPro/Car-Part Pro integration to access Car-Part.com within Mitchell Estimating. This will export items from the estimate directly into Car-part and allow successfully matched parts to be imported back into the estimate.

Customer communication
ICBC or the repair facility must explain to customers
  • the parts that will be used to repair their vehicle, and
  • ICBC’s commitment to return their vehicle to pre-accident condition.
Note: ICBC will maintain the list of authorized part suppliers from Mitchell’s Estimating database that will be permitted to supply similar kind and quality parts for ICBC claims.
