Standards of performance for repair facilities on exchange parts

Guidelines for standards of performance on exchange parts for repair facilities.

Standards of performance

All repair facilities must meet all these standards of performance for exchange parts:

Requirement Standard of performance
In house repairs Repair facilities must not send parts to exchange parts suppliers for repairs when a repair time is shown on the Estimate or Appraisal. These repairs must be completed in house by the repair facility.
Change from replace to repair If a repair facility decides to repair a part when ICBC has specified exchange:
  • the part price must be converted to a repair allowance.
  • the change must be:
    • approved by ICBC, and
    • for a negotiated repair allowance that is not to exceed the actual cost of replacement.
Core storage Exchange part cores must be safely stored by the repair facility for at least 7 days, unless other arrangements have been made between the repair facility and supplier.
Labour compensation Repair facility requests for labour compensation must be reasonable.
