Steps to document and apply de-nib and finesse during a collision repair.
Prerequisites
An exterior panel has been refinished due to claim related damage.
When this applies
The repair facility completed the refinishing of an outer panel and identified that there is one or more nibs that requires correction.
Procedure
-
Inspect the condition of the finish, determining if the panel warrants a de-nib and finesse once the outer panels have been refinished.
-
Upload a photo for each panel documenting the correction sanding.
-
Navigate to the repair estimate in MITCHELL CLOUD ESTIMATING.
-
Click the Parts icon.
-
Select the ICBC My Templates group then 01 STANDARD.
-
Select DE-NIB & FINESSE.
-
Add a line to the repair estimate.
-
Apply 0.2 per full panel exterior refinish hour on exterior panels that requires de-nib and finesse.

Important: De-nib and finesse must only be applied to panels requiring the operation. For blended panels, the formula should apply to the full panel refinish time.
-
Attach an explanation line note to the template line, outlining which panels qualify for de-nib and finesse.
Note: The calculation to determine this is
total applicable full panel refinish time x (0.2) = total de-nib and finesse time to enter on repair estimate
