When this applies
When an employee is exposed to potentially bio-hazardous material, the employee should immediately clean and disinfect the wound. Then follow a strict communication and documentation protocol.
An employee has been directly exposed to a potential biohazard via open skin, including a cut or puncture.
Procedure

Employee
- Cleans, bleeds and disinfects the wound.
- Notifies their first aid attendant and Occupational Health and Safety.

- Contacts the Estimating Services Manager to advise on the WorkSafeBC claims reporting requirements.
