Policy for tint colour allowance

Guidelines regarding the application of tint colour allowances.

Policy

Tint colour may be required to achieve a blendable colour match on a vehicle. The tint colour allowance may be requested on the estimate for each colour that requires tint to achieve a blendable colour match.

Multiple allowances are permitted when spraying
  • two-tone, or
  • a different colour trim, bumper or cladding than that of the vehicle body.

Allowance labour time

For estimates with a refinish operation, repair program participants must manually select tint colour in the Mitchell Reference Sheet section and enter an allowance of 0.3 hours refinish labour time for each colour that requires the tint colour operation.

This compensates for the color match or tinting operation not included in Mitchell Cloud Estimating (MCE).

Note: For vehicles with multiple claims, The tint colour allowance is applied to the first claim only because the operation is performed once.
