Handle biohazard inspection and cleaning

Steps to handle biohazard inspection and cleaning of a vehicle.

When this applies

If the vehicle may have been exposed to biohazardous material it must be inspected and cleaned. The bio-inspection must be performed by a qualified ICBC supplier.

Procedure

  1. Complete the material damage claim investigation.
    Important: Inspection and cleaning of the vehicle should not be done until the material damage claim investigation has been completed.
  2. Arrange for the bio-inspection to be performed by a qualified service provider.
  3. Advise the customer that their vehicle will be inspected for hazards to ensure their safety.

    used a specialized service provider to inspect and clean the vehicle, and a mobile qualified service provider is available explain this benefit to the customer.
    does not have a qualified service provider, or access to a mobile qualified service provider
    • explain that a risk of exposure to biohazardous materials may exist and the service is not available in your area, and
    • instruct the Claims Support Assistant (CSA) via Request Tow activity to have the vehicle moved to a qualified service provider.
    Note: The situation may have been explained to the customer already.
  4. Document all inspection and/or cleaning authorizations in ClaimCenter.
