Bio-hazard inspection and cleaning by qualified ICBC supplier

Qualified supplier required

ICBC ensures all vehicles with an ICBC claim that are exposed to bio-hazardous materials are inspected and cleaned to reduce the exposure to our customers, staff and business partners.

If the vehicle may have been exposed to bio-hazardous materials it must be cleaned. The inspection and cleaning must be performed by a qualified ICBC supplier.

When an area has no qualified supplier

For offices that do not have a qualified service provider the

• claim owner or estimator must explain to the customer that a risk of exposure to bio-hazardous materials may exist and the service is not available in their area, and
• decision to move the vehicle to a qualified service provider is the responsibility of the claims servicing office.

Avoiding bio-hazard exposure

Personal safety and appropriate consideration for the exposure to bio-hazard conditions is paramount. It may be necessary

• to vent the vehicle outdoors, and
• for people examining these vehicles to wear appropriate safety equipment (gloves, masks, etc.).
