This policy applies to all repair facilities and their employees when an air conditioning evacuation and recharge operation occurs at a repair facility.

The policy applies when a collision repair facility qualified technician completes the air conditioning evacuation and recharge operation at the repair facility.

Details

Comply with regulation

Repair facilities completing evacuations to and/or recharging vehicles must comply with

  • all federal and provincial regulations, and
  • Environmental Code of Pra ctice for Elimination of Fluorocarbon Emissions from Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems.

Use compliant equipment

Repair facilities completing evacuations must use equipment that meets the specifications required in the BC Ozone Depleting Substances and Other Halocarbons Regulation.

Approved person

Operators servicing motor vehicle air conditioning systems must be approved persons as required by the BC Ozone Depleting Substances and Other Halocarbons Regulation.

Provide proof

Repair facilities must provide ICBC with proof that they have the required equipment and certification.
